We’ve all witnessed valet parkers braving the driving rain to greet guests with an umbrella before escorting them into a hotel. Following a large snowfall these same parking attendants might be found shoveling snow or unloading packages for guests.
For guests, valet parking guards against exposure to inclement weather. For valet parkers, inclement weather is simply part and parcel of the job.
There are, however, ways for parking attendants to mitigate against a good drenching, a bone-chilling breeze or an outright blizzard.
A heavy duty 100% waterproof raincoat can keep even the busiest of valets bone dry. Similarly, a compression shirt worn under a lined jacket can be an attendant’s best friend. So too can a flexible pair of micro-stretch polyester fleece gloves that stay put while moving from car to car.
Topping off the uniform and adding warmth, there’s nothing like a well-constructed beanie. Today’s beanies are made in a multitude of styles, textures, colors and materials. Some feature an integrated visor, imparting a nice flair while providing shade from the sun.
When the sun gives way to the moon, it is reflective piping that invites attention. Applied to a valet’s jacket or raincoat, it protects against winter’s notoriously dangerous vehicular traffic. When visibility is diminished, the reflective tape or piping can make a valet attendant in mid-sprint easier to spot.
Most of J.A. Uniform's valet-parking customers acquire their winter wear well in advance. Those that do not, scramble to do so at the first hint of cooler air.
Aside from being able to hit the ground running when temperatures dip, ordering in advance protects against manufacturing shortages.
And why take any chances? After all, winter waits for no one.
